Smart IPTV (SIPTV): Installation and Setup

Smart IPTV (SIPTV) is one of the oldest and most lightweight IPTV players, originally built for smart TVs. It comes with no channels — you need a subscription from a provider. Two things are worth knowing before you install it: the player is paid, and the playlist is added not in the app but on the developer’s website.

What to know in advance

  • The first 7 days are free; after that, channels are blocked until you pay — about 5.49 EUR one-time per TV MAC address
  • The playlist can only be uploaded through the official website; the app itself has no option for this
  • Works well on both older and newer LG (WebOS, Netcast) and Samsung (Tizen, Orsay) TVs, as well as on Android TV and Amazon Fire TV
  • The license is tied to the MAC address of a specific TV: if you replace the device, you’ll have to buy it again

Step 1. Installing the app

  • LG and Samsung TVs. Open the LG Content Store or Samsung Apps, search for Smart IPTV and install it
  • Android TV and Fire TV. Download the APK from the official website — siptv.app/news — and install it with a file manager. Only get the file from there: builds from third-party sites are sometimes modified

Step 2. Your TV’s MAC address

  1. Launch Smart IPTV on your TV
  2. The start screen or the app settings will show a unique MAC address in the format a1:b2:c3:d4:e5:f6
  3. Write it down or take a photo of it — you’ll need it both to upload channels and to pay

Step 3. Uploading the playlist on the website

This step is done in a browser on your computer or smartphone.

  1. Open the page siptv.app/mylist
  2. In the section for uploading playlists with auto-update, enter your TV’s MAC address in the MAC field
  3. In the URL field, paste the direct link to the M3U playlist from your provider
  4. If needed, add a link to the TV guide in XMLTV format in the EPG field — if it isn’t already embedded in the playlist
  5. Click Send. If the upload succeeds, a green confirmation appears at the bottom
  6. Go back to your TV and restart the app or press “0” on the remote — the channel list will load

Step 4. Activation after the trial period

  1. Open the activation page siptv.app/activation
  2. Enter your TV’s MAC address and your email — the receipt will be sent there
  3. Choose a payment method — card, PayPal or cryptocurrency — and make the one-time payment
  4. Activation happens automatically by MAC address. Restart the app on your TV

Controls and troubleshooting

  • Channels won’t load or you see “Check playlist URL.” Check whether your provider restricts access by IP. Another thing that helps: delete the old playlist on siptv.app using the delete section and upload it again
  • Remote buttons. “OK” opens the channel list, “Up” and “Down” switch channels, the blue button or a long press of “OK” opens categories, and “0” forces a playlist refresh
  • Buffering. If channels stutter, increase the buffering time in the app settings on your TV
